A Christening or Naming Ceremony isn't just about the ceremony, it's also about the party or reception afterwards. It's a chance to catch up with friends and family and a chance for everyone to meet your baby.

You may prefer a simple afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes, a finger buffet or a formal three-course sit down meal. The question is, where do you hold it?

Christening and naming ceremonies are essentially times for family and close friends to get together. A party thrown to celebrate the occasion will probably have one of the widest age ranges - from babies to grandparents and beyond, so you need a venue that can accommodate everyone. BAR13 can redesign the party venue space to suit small intimate gatherings, huge celebrations up to 200 people or anywhere inbetween.

The food served at your celebration will depend on a number of factors: budget, number of guests, formality or personal taste.

Silver Service Dinners involve at least three courses, all of which are served to seated guests individually. This is usually the most expensive option but does add a touch of luxury to the celebrations.

A Sit Down Buffet can be formal, using a seating plan, or more casual with open seating. Starters, desserts and coffee are served at the table with a self service buffet for the main course. The buffet can be hot, great to warm up after a chilly church service, or cold with light meats and salads for a summer celebration.

Finger Buffets are informal and one of the most economical options. Designed to be eaten with fingers or forks and include sandwiches, cold pies, quiches, pastries, cakes and fruit, perfect for many different sizes of celebration and if you have many children as guests.

BAR13 sell a full range of popular Lagers, Beers and Bitters on draft and bottled, a wide selection of delicious Red and White Wines and a large variety of Spirits and Mixers.

For designated drivers and Children: Soft drinks can be purchased in varying measures on draft or in bottles. We also offer pure fruit juices and squash, all at suprisingly low prices over the bar compared with City Centre bars and many other licensed Christening Party Venues.

For Buffet style Christening or Naming Ceremony celebrations, we can provide self service Pitchers of fruit juice and/or squash on the buffet table. Of course, water will always be made available.

The staff at BAR13 are experienced in all types of event management and can help make organising your party much easier. A Christening or Naming Ceremony Celebration should never be stressful for the parents, so BAR13 staff will take care of everything on the day.

Your requirements will be discussed in detail after your Booking Enquiry taking onboard your ideas and wishes, we may also have ideas that you haven't considered yourself.

Food and Drink will be catered to whatever style you request from our wide range of different available menus. You can choose everything from one menu, or a little something from each. The choice is yours.

Price for Christening and Naming Ceremony Celebrations will depend entirely on your requirements and is negotiable.
Getting to BAR13

BAR13 is exceptionally well connected to the major road network in and around York (A1237 & A64) as we are situated down Kathryn Avenue on Monks Cross.

If your group of friends has designated drivers, we have plenty of onsite parking, room enough for hundreds of cars. You can find directions to BAR13 here.

If everyone want's to drink, then obviously, drink driving is out of the question. So, we have an agreement with a local Taxi firm that guarantees we can get cars to take you home whatever the time, whatever the time of year.
